Coming Soon! The Circular A-133 Compliance Supplement

The Office of Management and Budget may actually achieve its goal of issuing the 2011 OMB Circular A-133 Compliance Supplement much earlier than it did last year, although maybe not as soon as it had hoped.

OMB officials have told us that they expect to release the compliance supplement perhaps as early as the end of this week. That would be about two-and-a-half months earlier than when it was released last year. The OMB took some flak last year from auditors who demanded that the compliance supplement be released earlier so that they can better plan their single audits, particularly American Recovery and Reinvestment Act single audits.

A Government Accountability Office report released earlier this year stated that OMB officials had planned to address a GAO recommendation by issuing the compliance supplement by the end of March. As complex as the compliance supplement is, if OMB misses that deadline by only a couple of weeks, it deserves some credit for the effort. Stay tuned — all the latest changes and details contained in the 2011 Circular A-133 Compliance Supplement will be provided in upcoming stories and updates in the Single Audit Information Service.

Let us know what information you hope to see in the updated compliance supplement. What specific areas would you like to see addressed?
