Here’s hoping you’re all reading this on vacation, like our elected Congressional representatives. But wherever you are this week, here’s a rundown of what you may have missed in the latest round of analysis looking at how the recently inked debt deal could impact state and local governments. The only thing anyone seems to agree on is that we just don’t know what the future holds. Happy reading.

  • Officials in Massachusetts are looking at the impact for states and locals of the credit ratings agency downgrade of long-term U.S. debt.
  • An overview of the Budget Control Act  and The Ferguson Group’s extensive analysis of the debt deal’s expected impacts on local governments.
  • The Center for American Progress argues that low-income individuals and families are among those who will be disproportionately affected by the funding cuts agreed to in the debt deal.
  • And good news/bad news from Stateline. Some experts think all the worry about the impact of the debt deal on states may be for naught.  Others disagree.
  • Outside the world of  federal debt deals, the Federal Aviation Administration’s extension bill passed Senate and was signed by Obama, resolving partial shutdown.
