Free Webinar This Friday for Thompson Publication Subscribers

As you probably remember, the regular bloggers here at Funding Attractions are also the editors of Thompson’s grants-related publications.  We’re doing something special for some of our subscribers later this week, and I wanted to share the info here to (1) inform those subscribers who might have missed the email we sent on it last week and (2) give you a taste for what you’re missing if you don’t currently subscribe to our publications.

Here’s the skinny:  subscribers to the Local/State Funding Report, the Guide to Federal Funding for Local Governments and Nonprofits and GrantsWire can participate in our free live webinar on “How to Be a Competitive Grantseeker in the Current Funding Climate.”  It’s happening this Friday, September 16, from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.  Info on how to register appears in an email we sent last week and in a reminder email that will be sent out tomorrow.

Why are we doing this?  We know that it’s really rough out there for grantseekers these days. Between the current fiscal state of the nation and the impassioned policy debates in Washington, D.C. over the role and scope of federal spending, funding agencies are enduring round after round of cuts. At the same time, the recent recession and related impacts have created funding needs that are greater than ever for many communities, nonprofits and other entities. In short, there are fewer grant dollars to go around and more organizations going after them.

To help our subscribers stay in the game, we’re assembling a panel of top-notch grant professionals who actively work with grantseekers to meet these challenges on a daily basis:

  • Eric Brenner, director of the Maryland Governor’s Grants Office and co-chair of the National Grants Partnership
  • Gail Vertz, CEO of the Grant Professionals Association
  • Jesse Buggs, grant administrator for the city of Bowie, Maryland, and president of the GPA’s National Capital Area chapter
  • Glenda O’Neal, grantwriting consultant and author

I’ll be playing moderator, and the panelists will be taking live questions from webinar participants.

So subscribers, check your email for how to join us Friday as the panel discusses:

  • How the debt limit agreement and upcoming milestones may impact the availability of federal grant dollars;
  • Techniques and tools for keeping track of, prioritizing and identifying the best grants for projects;
  • Tactics for making an application stand out;
  • Funding alternatives to federal grants; and
  • Information on upcoming training and professional development opportunities to develop and polish grantseeking skills.

We expect to start offering regular webinars for our subscribers to compliment the coverage of grant-related issues that they get from our publications.  Friday’s webinar will be a great way to kick that off!
