It’s late August and to kids across the country, that means summer break is ending and it is or almost is “Back to School” time. However, for those in the grants management and auditing community, staying educated on the latest requirements is a year-round responsibility. That’s why Thompson continues to offer some terrific continuing education opportunities through our webinars, and this is your chance get a great deal on them (see below).

Coming up in the next few weeks, here’s our lineup of grants-related webinars:

Aug. 29: “The Essentials of OMB Circular A-133 from A to Z” — Grants law specialist Stacia Le Blanc will provide an overview of the most important aspects of OMB Circular A-133.

Sept. 6: “The OMB’s 2012 A-133 Compliance Supplement: A Guide for Recipients and Subrecipients” — Attorney Leigh Manasevit of Brustein & Manasevit, PLLC, will explain the purpose, function and uses of the OMB Circular A-133 Compliance Supplement to help you maximize your use of this critical compliance tool.

Sept. 13: “Internal Controls — What They Are and Why We Need Them” — Tiffany Winters of Brustein & Manasevit will explain what internal controls are, identify ways to detect weaknesses in internal controls and provide attendees with practical examples of internal controls that are recommended by federal agencies.

Sept. 25: “The Effect of the Potential New OMB ‘Super Circulars’ on Federal Education Programs” — Winters will discuss the changes proposed in the notice to the audit requirements under OMB Circulars A-133 and A-50 and the administrative requirements under OMB Circulars A-102, A-110 and A-89.  Additionally, Ms. Winters will discuss the proposed consolidation of several cost principles — Circulars A-21, A-87, and A-122 — into a single document and the potential effect of any of the changes if they become final.

Not only can attendees gain critical insight on the latest on these timely issues, but they can ask questions to the speakers and earn important CPEs by attending the webinars. If there ever was a time to stay current on grants management and auditing issues, now is definitely the time.
