On the Road Again — Albeit a Short Trip

After a late summer lull in the conference department, I’ll get the chance to head out of the office again in the next few days to attend some intriguing grants-related events. Luckily, both are in the D.C. area, so it won’t cost me much in gas.

First, the National Grants Management Association is launching another year of its monthly training series. The first session for the 2012-2013 training series will be Sept. 19 and will feature Tom James, assistant director, and Betsy Holser, senior analyst for strategic issues at the Government Accountability Office. The two speakers will be discussing grants management streamlining issues, and it could prove to be quite interesting.

Next up, the Association of Government Accountants will host its Internal Control and Fraud Prevention Training Conference at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C.  Among the sessions include updates from Office of Management and Budget officials and other key federal and state leaders focusing on grants and audit oversight. One session will feature an update on the OMB grants management reforms. Hopefully, they will have something newsworthy as we await the upcoming grants reform proposal sometime this fall.

Subscribers to Thompson’s grants publications will receive articles from these events. In addition, if you want to stay abreast to other facets of grants and audits while gaining some CPE credits, check out the latest Thompson grants webinars here.

Is there any grants or audit related topic that you would like to see a webinar or conference session focus on? Let us know.
