winter-at-the-us-capitol-1329473-mDo you have about four hours free on Monday morning? If so, then you may want to sign up to take part in the Council on Financial Assistance Reform’s webinar on the new grants reform guidance. COFAR finally released an agenda for the session yesterday.

The training on 2 C.F.R., Chapter II, Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Costs Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards, will be presented in four parts. To register, go to the COFAR website here.

The webinar will begin with an overview on the uniform guidance from 9-9:30 a.m. by Norman Dong of the Office of Management and Budget. Next will be a discussion on the administrative requirements from 9:30-10:30 a.m. by Kathy Bialas of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and Jean Feldman of the National Science Foundation. From 10:30-11:30 a.m., there will be a discussion on the cost principles by Stephen Daniels and Laura Watson of the Department of Labor. Lastly, there will be discussion on audit requirements from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. by Terry Ramsey of the Department of Health and Human Services and Gil Tran of the Office of Management and Budget.

COFAR encourages attendees of the webinar to submit questions to before, during and after the training. These questions will be reviewed for inclusion in Q&A documents that will be posted on the COFAR website. And if you miss this webinar, COFAR said it would record it for on demand viewing.

Also, keep in mind that Thompson is hosting its own webinar on changes in the uniform guidance on Thursday, Jan. 30. Go to to find out more about this webinar and how to register. Because the changes in the new guidance are so extensive, grants stakeholders are encouraged to get as much training as they can to be prepared.

One last thing about a previous blog post, the Government Accountability and Transparency Board was scheduled to host a meeting on Jan. 21 to hear presentations from grants stakeholders regarding accountability and transparency for federal expenditures made through contracts and grants, as GATB prepares its 2014 annual plan. However, due to a pesky snowstorm that hit the D.C. area and the East Coast (not to mention a severe cold snap that doesn’t look like it’s going away any time soon), the meeting was postponed to a later date. GATB will determine a date for the stakeholder presentations when it next meets. (Frankly, if it wants to meet in Florida, I’m all for taking a road trip!)

Make sure you’re up on all the changes; don’t be left out in the cold.

What information do you want to learn more about in webinars? We’d love to get your input.
