WH_ByAFThis is a big week on the grants calendar in the nation’s capital. The National Grants Management Association will be hosting its annual grants training conference Tuesday through Thursday in Crystal City, Va., and we’ll be there to cover it all. If you are in the D.C. area, come on down because this promises to be one of the most informative conferences in years in light of the Office of Management and Budget’s new uniform grant guidance. Also, I’d love you meet you in person.

On tap for this year’s conference are general sessions by Karen Lee and Gil Tran from OMB and Stan Czerwinski from the Government Accountability Office; a session on “Managing a Cost-Effective Grant Program” by Gloria Shontz and Teresa Thompson Pinkney; a session on internal controls and fraud by Ken Dieffenbach of the U.S. Department of Justice; and the always popular Ask a Grants Lawyer session. Breakout sessions include the following topics:

  • Four Keys to Getting Through a Grants Management Audit
  • Tools and Techniques for Managing and Monitoring Higher Risk Projects
  • Data Act and Other Federal Data Initiatives: Rewired
  • Managing the Process of Grants Management
  • The Impact of “Do Not Pay” on Federal Grant Expenditures
  • Drowning in Data? How to Create Transparency in Your Organization and Create Visual Data
  • Property Management: From Purchasing to Inventory and How the Supercircular May Change the Rules
  • Data Driven Risk Based Oversight and Monitoring
  • Getting Back to Great! Taking Your Organization from High-Risk to Low-Risk
  • Buyer’s Guide: Grant Management Software
