300x300.AICPAAs we approach the beginning of summer, we look forward not only to the warming temperatures, but also to getting out and meeting folks in the grants and audit community at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ annual Not-for-Profit Conference, which will occur next week at National Harbor, Md. The conference is attended by hundreds of accountants, auditors, not-for-profit personnel and others interest in learning more about issues facing their industry.

On the marketing side, Thompson Grants will have a table at the conference where attendees can get a chance to meet one-on-one with some of our knowledgeable staff and gather information about our various publications, training options and other online tools, such as our award-winning GrantScape resource for finding award opportunities.

We will also have editorial staff on hand to cover many of the sessions and will discuss information gleaned from these sessions in future articles to help keep our subscribers up-to-date on the latest grants and audit happenings. We will be attending sessions on procurement and indirect cost, as well as sessions to find out the latest on the potential release of a final revision of the Government Auditing Standards. And all of this is on the first day.

For the second and third days of the conference, we’ll cover the popular “Single Audit Update” session, which is always important to our followers, and a session on internal controls. However, we’re really interested in a Tuesday session of importance to potential award applicants that discusses when it would be advisable NOT to apply for a funding opportunity.

We encourage everyone in attendance to stop by and say hi to us at the conference. We’d love to talk to you and find out more about your grant and audit challenges and what services we can provide to better meet your needs. See you there!

If you plan to attend this conference, let us know what you hope to learn.

As a reminder, we have all of our Federal Funding Training Forums scheduled for 2018. Please let me know if you have questions or can make any of these. We hope to see you there!
